Cervical Cancer Awareness

Cervical spine has a total of 7 bones that has a separation from one another by the intervertebral discs, allowing them to move freely and absorbing any kind of shock while doing any form of activities.

cervical stenosis is a disorder which is caused mostly due to aging when there is a compression on the spinal cord and the entire spinal canal narrows down.

The spine discs has a possibility to dry out when it separates and cushion vertebrae which causes shrinking the space between the vertebrae losing the ability of action while absorbing any type of shock, also the bones and ligaments makes the spine less thicken & flexible resulting the spinal canal to narrow down due to these changes.

The degeneration of the bones can be possible due to many reasons that might include any form of injury, age, poor pressure or any kind of diseases i.e., arthritis which can cause disc herniation. Also possibility of disc herniation, blood destruction is also present due to unexpected injury to the neck causing the spinal canal to narrow down.

Dr Ziauddin Hospital teaches prevention and control of Hospital acquired Infections through Cleaning, Disinfection & Sterilization

Surgical procedures and invasive medical procedures such as Endoscopy involve contact by a medical device or surgical instrument with a patient’s sterile tissue or mucous membranes. A major risk of all such procedures is the introduction of pathogens that can lead to infection. Failure to properly disinfect or sterilize equipment can increase transmission risk of blood borne infections (e.g., hepatitis B virus) and environmental pathogens (e.g., Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Disinfection and sterilization are essential for ensuring that medical and surgical instruments do not transmit infectious pathogens to patients. Sterilization of all patient-care items is not necessary. Health care facilities identify primarily on the basis of the items' intended use, whether cleaning, disinfection, or sterilization is indicated. Considering this, the Department of Infection Prevention and control, Dr Ziauddin Hospital  organized a session on Prevention and Control of Hospital acquired Infectio...

Maternal and newborn health

Newborns and mothers are still dying in awful numbers many a times from preventable causes.   It is still sad to see that newborns and mothers – including adolescent mothers – are still dying in inadmissibly large numbers – mostly from avoidable or treatable causes, such as infectious diseases and complications during pregnancy or childbirth.  Poorly matched access to reasonable, high-quality health care and services hinders many countries from improving maternal and newborn survival and reducing stillbirths. A significant proportion of maternal and newborn deaths occurs in settings of conflict or  dislodgment . However, in current times, the world has seen noteworthy declines in infant and maternal mortality rates. But women and babies still die in confounding numbers before, during and after childbirth. Many of these deaths can be stopped with better-quality health care. Worldwide, more preventable deaths – an estimated 8 million – occur from poor-quality...

Pink October: kill cancer not the hope

Imagine a creepy parasite hidden in your body, feeding on your strength, wellness, and happiness. Well, that is what Cancer will look like if it had a body form. It will remain inside your body without any symptoms and just suddenly exposed itself without any warning. Having breast cancer is taboo in our society. The literacy rate of cancer awareness is almost negligible. People fear being a victim of it, but nobody wants to talk about it. The survivors are not being encouraged for telling their stories. Even with the rising cases, we fail to acknowledge that Breast cancer touches more lives than you may think. So, let’s just not beat about the bush and face it. The number of women being affected by this lethal diagnosis is increasing day by day. Now we cannot turn our faces around. It affects more than 2 million women across the whole world every year. In Pakistan, 1 of every 9 women has a risk of developing breast cancer. This is a high time to spread awareness related to breast ...
